10 Ways to Work While Walking – Do More in Less Time!

10 Ways to Work While WalkingDo you want to save time, money and get more done all at the same time? You can work while walking and make your workday much more efficient simply by increasing focus. Plus, you can get your daily movement or exercise in by the time you finish work!

If you’re anything like me, you want to know you’re getting a good deal. With any purchase I make, I want to know that my investment will pay for itself twice over – if not more.

Treadmill desks are one of those investments. Will I use it enough? Will it get me the results I want? Is it really worth the cost? Of course I want to know the answers before I spend my money. I mean, who doesn’t?

When I have decisions like these to make, I typically make a list. This way I can justify my investment – or realize that it’s not a good idea for me after all. It’s worked well for me on many purchases, and it’s easy to do.

Work While Walking: How to Do More Things in Less Time…

1. Of course, I can walk while I work. This saves me time on the days I can’t make it to the gym and helps prevent the back pain I have when I sit too long at a desk.

2. I can be productive and get a walk in while on long conversations with my mom. Heck, I can even use a couple of small dumbbells and get an arm workout in at the same time. Bonus! This has actually turned me into a more social person, since I feel like I am not wasting time on the phone socializing.

3. Speaking of long phone calls, I can walk while on conference calls with clients. No one has to know, since I can go at a slow enough pace that I don’t get out of breath, and I can still stay in my office where there are no loud sounds.

4. I can get a lot of odds and ends done, like paying bills or responding to emails. Some treadmill desks come with organizer trays or pockets where you can put “odds and ends” items to get done at a certain time each week.

5. Having a 5-10 minute walk right after I get up in the morning helps get my blood flowing. I used to try and do push ups and jumping jacks, but it was much more difficult to stick to that routine, as it required more energy than I had getting out of bed.

6. A treadmill desk (or a standing desk for that matter) eliminates having to get up every hour or two to stretch. My body gets stiff if I sit for long periods of time. Work can sometime be intense and stressful, and my body builds up tension. If I am standing or walking while working, I can easily stretch my body without having to get up and move around – I am already doing it.

7. I like to meditate at the beginning of the day. However, I find that the hardest part is sitting still. My treadmill desk solves that, where I can move at a slow pace without having to think or go anywhere. I find it to be the perfect solution that actually helps me meditate more often.

8. I’m one of those people who has to be doing something while I’m watching TV or listening to the radio or an audio book. No need to take up knitting now! I can get my blood flowing while doing these sedentary activities, and I can actually be really focused on what I’m watching or listening to.

9. I’m taking Spanish lessons online. I can easily do these while walking. Whether you are taking a class or learning a new skill, have you ever thought about doing it while walking? Or maybe this give you the perfect opportunity to learn something new!

10. Of course, if you are a work-at-home mom, a treadmill desk is a no brainer. You’re already juggling enough tasks. If you can do several at once it can be a lifesaver!
